How We Make Money

ScoreSmarter is an independently operated review website. We earn money through affiliate partnerships with some of the test prep companies we review. When you click on certain links on our site and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.

Editorial Independence

Our affiliate relationships do not influence our rankings, scores, or editorial opinions. Every course is evaluated using the same standardized methodology across five key dimensions: Course Technology, Content Quality, Teaching Effectiveness, Value for Money, and Practice & Analytics. Our expert review team independently assesses each course regardless of whether we have an affiliate relationship with the provider.

Our Review Methodology

Each test prep course is scored on a 1-5 scale across five dimensions by our expert review team. The overall score is a weighted average of these individual scores. Our reviewers include education consultants and subject matter experts who evaluate platform capabilities across all seven exam categories we cover: MCAT, LSAT, DAT, ACT, SAT, GRE, and GMAT.

  • Course Technology: How modern, innovative, and adaptive the platform is — including study schedulers, app quality, and UX.
  • Content Quality: The accuracy, comprehensiveness, and clarity of video lessons, textbooks, and practice questions.
  • Teaching Effectiveness: The quality of instructors, lesson structure, engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Value for Money: Pricing, access length, refund policies, and what you get per dollar spent.
  • Practice & Analytics: The depth of question banks, practice exams, score tracking, and performance dashboards.

Transparency

We believe in full transparency with our readers. Affiliate links on our site are clearly marked, and we include disclosure banners on all pages that contain affiliate links. We only recommend courses that our expert team genuinely believes provide value to students preparing for the MCAT, LSAT, DAT, ACT, SAT, GRE, or GMAT.
